“I didn’t leave my values. My values led me here.”

Chris Tanner is a lifelong Kansan who has called Topeka home for more than 30 years. A maintenance worker, pastor, and community volunteer, he believes leadership should be rooted in hard work and respect for everyday people.

Chris decided to run after watching his mother battle cancer while struggling with the cost of heathcare. She worked hard her whole life, yet the system still fell short. That experience shaped his support for making health care more affordable, including Medicaid expansion.

Raised in a conservative home and once active in Republican campaigns, Chris did not leave his values behind. He followed them. He is running as a Democrat because he believes Kansas needs practical leadership focused on lowering costs and standing up for working families.
